Footnotes? & other LJ stuff

I have this vague memory of seeing footnotes used in some LJ entries. Yet I couldn't find any info about this anywhere just now, when looking at the FAQ. Help?

Also, I received a virtual gift a few days ago. Thanks! (And also: thanks to people who've given me virtual gifts previously.) - I'd reciprocate, but I'm not quite sure if I trust LJ enough these days to give them my credit card data. But, errm, your gesture is appreciated, nevertheless. *sheepish*

Regarding footnotes, I assume you mean the "This entry was originally/also posted at Dreamwidth" stuff? You can set it up at your crosspost settings.

I actually meant "normal" footnotes: a small number behind the word in the text, and then an annotation for that number at the bottom of the text. And I mainly meant LJ markup code, not DW, as I'm about to post a story that needs footnotes to an LJ community.

That said, maybe I'll look into the thing you explained here as well. Seems useful. :-)

As far as I'm aware, there is no handy-dandy way to do footnotes; you have to use HTML tags to superscript the numbers and internally link them to the footnote at the bottom. I mean, it's not THAT hard obviously but it's pretty much a labor-intensive operation compared to other formatting tasks that can be accomplished in rich text, like lists and such.

Ah, okay. But the necessary html tags for that work?
