Footnotes? & other LJ stuff

hmpfI have this vague memory of seeing footnotes used in some LJ entries. Yet I couldn't find any info about this anywhere just now, when looking at the FAQ. Help?
Also, I received a virtual gift a few days ago. Thanks! (And also: thanks to people who've given me virtual gifts previously.) - I'd reciprocate, but I'm not quite sure if I trust LJ enough these days to give them my credit card data. But, errm, your gesture is appreciated, nevertheless. *sheepish*
