if Sam and Gene ever argue about the relative merits of the various Doctors. Gene, of course, predates Doctor Who, he had a Wholess childhood (my god, he's prehistoric!), but if he did start to watch the show at some point, his allegiance probably lies with Hartnell or Troughton. For Sam, on the other hand, the One True Doctor must be either Pertwee (though he may be just a tad too young for that) or Tom Baker. Baker, probably, simply because that must have been the predominant Doctor of his childhood.

I haven't seen any 7th Doctor eps yet - I only know Doctors 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, and 11 (barely), so far - but I have to echo that question. My friend beccatoria, whose judgment I rather trust, loves the 7th Doctor and her reasons sound good to me...

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been trying to think what to say, without sounding like an utter plank. So apologies in advance if I do.

I only watched the episodes as a kid and haven't rewatched since (and have no real desire to do so), so I can't really say what's wrong with Sylvester McCoy. Also I can't really speak for keozen either, but thinking about it, he seemed to think that was reason enough for not liking Dr Who at all (maybe he came off with a worse impression of McCoy than I did? *shrugs* because, to be honest, I was quite surprised when he said that (and I bet he doesn't remember it now, heh) )
