Normal has been nominated for a Rerun Award in the A Day in the Life category for fic true to canon. The Awards seem to focus mostly on BtVS, Justice League and Sentinel, so I guess I have about a snowball's chance in hell of winning - but hey, my first nomination!

(And yes, I do know that fanfic awards mean very, very little. Still, it's nice to be nominated for one. *g*)

ETA: Ooops, totally forgot that Zusammen (English: Together) was nominated for a Paradiesapfel in, uh, 2004, I think. Somehow I always tend to forget that story, and that nomination. There's just something so unreal about it: I write *one* story in a fandom I'm not all that interested in (Harry Potter), in a genre I don't usually write (slash), and the fandom *embraces* it! That was so strange - especially since it was the first time in my writing career I got that kind of reaction. I'd written more or less into a void before that, in terms of feedback/recs/nominations. So, when that success came, my brain just said 'does not compute', and then I must have repressed the memory or something. ;-)

ETA 2: And, because this kind of fits here: as it happens, I gave a quick outline of my entire fanfic writing 'career' so far in a discussion in [livejournal.com profile] lifein1973 just yesterday. Here's a link: http://community.livejournal.com/lifein1973/195737.html?thread=1963929#t1963929

Yeah, as in:

Save me, save me, save me,
I can't face the night alone.
Save me, save me, save me,
I'm naked, and I'm far from home.

As I said to someone else recently, I am pretty much a sap when it comes to Brian May's lyrics, and I've had this particular song in my head for some time now (about a week, which is unusual). So, um, yeah. Random song lyric!

Hoo-ray for the beginning of the recognition this story deserves. *nods sagely* Seriously though, Normal is a phenomenal piece of fan fiction; this category fits it perfectly. It manages to be interesting, to justify its own existence by exploring something not fully realised, though hinted at in the original text, without actually swerving at all from cannon. Doing that is actually extremely difficult as the story frequently either becomes irrelevant or at least somehow AUs things a bit. So yeah. You're such a dude.

Awwwww... thanks.
