Now I know *one* of the things the recent system crashes did to my computer: my Life On Mars vid is gone. Or rather, the Premiere project file for it is gone, or got scrambled. All my work, gone.
It's still there? Cool. Congratulations. :) We're in a similar situation. mordio is currently editing the GateCamp 2006 and part of our holiday video. After that, the computer has to be re-installed because apart from vidding nothing works any more. After that, I'll be starting on my vidding project. :)
Look at beccatoria's comment further down: having to reinstall the system seems to be a frighteningly frequent consequence of vidding! *warily eyes Premiere*
Computers do this - they only know whats on a drive based on a table stored at the start (depending on the filesystem) and the first time they restart after a big crash that table isn't always quite right so things appear to not be there when they actually are (if that makes any sense to you).
the problem is that apparently the project file is dependent on a whole lot of other files being in the 'right' place. So either I backup half my system every time I've added to the vid, or my precious project file backup won't be much use.

Don't worry - my first vidding project - I had to literally reinstall my entire operating system to get it to render. But hooray for it not being lost.
In other news, I am insane and am yet again cutting a vid in WMM. Although, I don't actually think I do too badly considering my poor quality source footage and crappy programme. One day when we're in physically similar locations, you can show me a thing or two about Premiere.
In the meantime I'm apparently to lazy to even use fades. Although that's mostly because I don't think this video needs them. It's *gangsta*. No, seriously. It is. *whacks head against monitor*
