Questions you will be asked many times when you're a German living in England:

Q: Is it true that John F. Kennedy once publicly claimed 'I am a donut'?

A: Yes and no. The word 'Berliner' that he used has a double meaning. It *can* mean a jelly donut (without a central hole). Much more commonly, however, it means 'citizen of the city of Berlin' and that is what Kennedy meant, and what the citizens of Berlin understood. He is still loved for that. Nobody was laughing. (I think. Of course, I wasn't there. *g*)

Q: Is it true that David Hasselhoff is big in Germany?

A: He used to be, in the late 80s/early 90s. But then, in those decades nobody had any taste, anyway, so give us a break already! Anyway, I am proud to say I disliked him even when other girls my age were completely star struck by him. Hehe.

In other news...

Welcome back, [livejournal.com profile] ankae, to the online world! I missed you! Everybody else reading this, check out [livejournal.com profile] ankae's user info page - she has quite possibly the coolest interest list ever. *g*

Unpleasant news: major unrest on the major FS boards. After 17 months of fighting for a common goal, people are growing thin-skinned. Major players have left the field - hopefully only temporarily. *sad*

Will try and post a short update on what we in Europe can do for the campaign at the moment in the next few days. I've been slacking off, but I'm compiling a list of things that make sense for us EuroScapers to do at the moment to get back into gear.

E-mail and other matters of guilty conscience: I still haven't written all the e-mails I've been meaning to write since December. I'm sorry, but life is a bit too much at the moment. Again. Frell.

And lastly... I shouldn't be posting here at all, because university is preparing to eat me alive. Don't expect much from me in the next three and a half weeks, please. I'll be busy producing 10,000 words on four different subjects. Not sure if/how I am going to survive this. The only thing that keeps me going is the promise I made to myself to get the rest of the Finder books only after I'm done with the friggin' essays.

Needless to say, as always with uni work, I am not even half as far as I planned to be by now. My father is going to be sixty in a few days and he's going to have a big party in mid March. I wanted to fly there, originally, but at the moment, I can't see how I can finish my essays if I lose three days to fly to Germany. Frelling Evil Real Life Monster.

Hmm... which icon to use? Well, considering that Finder is still sort of helping me get through each day, I guess I'll have to go with Jaeger again.

Oh no! I thought only the Americans would ask that question.
Well, at least people from Britain won't ask if we have running water in Germany (I hope) :-)
