Spreading rumours...
Nov. 13th, 2003 01:56 amWell, I've been careful with my hope these past thirteen months or so. While I have little to no doubt that Farscape *will* return, in one form or another - the fan campaign has been too active, too visible, to be ignored forever - I didn't really expect it to return soon. But recently, there have been a whole drenload of rumours.
I was present myself in a small group of about 20 scapers when Virginia Hey spoke of a movie at the Bochum comic fair this September; also, we've had the same or very similar rumours (sometimes it's a movie, sometimes a mini-series) from, apparently, a lawyer, an actress supposedly cast for a part in it, people supposedly moving props back to Australia, and recently also Stargate's Michael Shanks who said that the greenlighting of a Stargate movie would depend on the success of a Farscape movie that was currently in pre-production or something like that. (I wasn't present, I'm only reporting rumours here, and as always with rumours, take them with a *sack* of salt.)
So, supposing this all was true, it wasn't too surprising to read in the press today that:
"The Jim Henson Company is holding a press conference Thursday to "announce an exciting new development in the campaign to continue Farscape." Among those participating in the media pow-wow: Series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon and exec producers Brian Henson and David Kemper."
(http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17077 - this is from the highly official US television magazine TV Guide. It's not a fan publication or anything like that.)
However, later this day, we heard this from the people at Save Farscape:
"I've just heard from Henson - they said that any press conference has been postponed indefinitely and that they have no further news on the situation."

Hmmmm... I'm not really sure if it's good yet, but I think we can be pretty certain that *something* is going on. Whatever it is.
Oh, and I should add that Brian Henson, who helped develop Farscape, has only recently become Co-CEO of the Henson Company... (yesterday or so)...
Also, the con is coming up - this weekend, most of the cast and several of the writers and producers will be at Burbank...
