I meant to, but now it's just too late for long postings. I really need to try and normalise my sleep pattern again. Hence, I'll go to bed now, and enter the utterly mind-blowing world of Gene Wolfe for a few more chapters before I go to sleep...

Been meaning to tell you (but couldn't find the thread on the DB *kicks brain*) - I got a Gene Wolfe book out of the library! Um, think it's called There Are Doors (it's not right next to me, so am a little unsure).

Woulda got one of the series you recommended, but since they had book two, and not book one, I decided perhaps somewhere else would be a better place to start...

There's an excerpt from the Book of the New Sun in one of my recent entries. I think it's on the previous page, titled 'Gene Wolfe, again', I think, and includes some notes on the Wolfe-Gaiman connection. :-)
