State of the Hmpf (& writing)
Jan. 4th, 2007 02:26 pmHappy New Year!
I feel a bit better. I'm still very scared of this year, but I've done a lot of work for uni over the last two weeks and so feel a bit more 'efficient' now. The topic for the next paper/presentation is actually really interesting, so that helps, too. I still need to do even more, and not just for uni, but I couldn't go from 0.5% 'efficiency' to 100% in just under three weeks, I guess. It takes more than a quick decision to change the habits of a decade (thankfully, not the habits of a lifetime - there've been periods where I had a good grip on my life. That's what's giving me hope that I may be able to get back into the habit of being a well-organised person. I've done it before.)
In the evenings, after finishing my uni work, I even managed to write a bit. I finally found the last six of Methos' wives (plus an unexpected sort-of-Mary Sue immie who insisted on being in one of the last paragraphs), so that story is officially in polishing stage now. Soon (that's 'soon' in a MacSlow sense, of course) it will be in betaing stage, and then, sometime after that, you'll get to see it. I'm also nearly done with two of the three old stories I'm revising. And I've started a new Life on Mars fic, arrgh. I don't need any more bunnies!
I was at my parents, and visiting a friend from Farscape fandom, for most of the last two weeks, and this is my first day back home. I'm going to start the new year here with a round of *really* thorough cleaning and tidying up, because after the mental slump of the last months my room's a dump. It's such a mess I can't even think in here. So, that's top priority today. That, and trying to sort out some of my potential new jobs. I should probably do that first, as it's three p.m. already.
So, that's me off now. Back to 'Real Life'.

Date: 2007-01-05 07:13 pm (UTC)I haven't done much writing except emo poetry and, for some bizare reason, a poem about Starbuck (poetry fic!) written in a traditional welsh form. Except in english. Yeah. I don't understand my brain either. But now I want to write a fanfic sestina. I sure do pick 'em... ;)

Just in case you didn't get it, here's the text:
I remember that you were quite a fan of Anke Eissmann's art. You might be interested to know that the TORn Reading Room is soon going to start a discussion of Tolkien art and illustration, and Anke's art is scheduled to be discussed from 9-15 April. I'd love to see you there!
