These are impressive. Put the third one on my desktop, it looks great there! :o) Wanna have a looooong look at these comics when you'd get them!
(is it the right time and grammar stuff? 'Wenn Du die Comics dann haben wirst'?)

by Schuiten and Peeters. I've decided to learn French again, now that my English skills have reached a satisfactory level. I used to be really good at French - some ten years ago. I think comics may be the right medium, as the French and the Belgians have some of the most beautiful comics there are. I ordered the first volume, Les murailles de Samaris. I also ordered the first volume of Enki Bilal's Nikopol trilogy and Téhy's Fée et tendres automates. Beautiful art in both of those, too.

I'm all excited about those at the moment. Unfortunately I'll only get them in September, even though they're for my birthday on Sunday. I ordered them at the local comic shop, and they said it would take a while. :(

I think...

the right time would be 'when you have them', quite simply.
Or 'when you'll have them'? Hmm... now I'm confused.
I must warn you, though, these are in French. ;-)

They're amazing, aren't they?

I've been wanting to read this series for a while, just because the art is so beautiful. Also, they sort of fit my life-long yearning for non-existing grandiose places...

It's really beautiful! There're some exceptional artists out there. Aren't Belgium and France considered the countries of comic? And yeah, comics are a good way to (re-) learn a language, as long as the author isn't a fan of difficult sentences and words, at least :D

Despite what I always said, I somehow got caught in the world of comics as well. Only for me it's manga/yaoi. There're some very good artists, too. The only problem is that some of them haven't been translated, not even into English, which leads to nice guessing games :-P Or fan translations with some luck. It's fun, but it was a nice lesson in: Never say never *g*

You know...

considering the frequency with which you're having these 'never say never' moments (Marilyn Manson... RPS... yaoi... need I continue? *g*) you *really* need to stop being surprised by yourself... Face it: your fannish fancy will carry you wherever it frelling likes, and there's little to nothing you can do about it. ;-) Look at me: I've stopped resisting long ago, and have discovered so many beautiful things to be excited about over the years...

And yes, in France and Belgium comics are a major art form. I'm only beginning to read 'bandes dessinées', though - until now, I've mostly read American comics. (Still have to convert you to Finder...) I'm not averse to the idea of reading manga, either. I'm really interested in the whole art form.

BTW...

you may be making mistakes, but at least you're trying - and that's the only way to learn! :-)
