I will need someone to discuss Harry Potter dystopian future speculation with in excruciating detail. Any volunteers? It's for this challenge. It's obviously going to be AU, though not so much because of the Sirius-OotP problem - I'd like to 'fix' that within the potential realms of canon and already have an idea for it that I think isn't too cheesy or implausible. Rather, it's going to be AU because it's unlikely that JKR will finish the series on quite such a dark note as the challenge suggests. Anyway, I am not very knowledgeable about HP, so I need help with this... I'll need to develop political as well as psychological background; decide who's alive and who's dead and why and how, etc. Mainly, I need help with the discussion of the political background, I think. What I have in mind is this 1984 thing disintegrating into anarchy, and the rest of the wizarding world looking on in horror as wizarding Britain spins out of control...
If I can pull it off, this will be my first plot-driven, sort-of-epic fic. But I need help from some real HP fen. Frell, I don't even have the books!

Actually, Pippin in RotK is just generally delicious. Probably because he gets to grow up so visibly. And he's saying a lot just with looks.
