(of the Endless) sending official messages through someone like Matthew? I have a very vague memory that there was a scene like that somewhere, but can't remember.

He'd probably introduce his message with something like "His somnolence Dream of the Endless (etc. etc.), to XY". But I want to check before I go and invent something like that.

Also, he may have a different style for talking to normal people (and he's talking to a non-supernatural normal human being here). Also, I guess, "Daniel"'s style may be quite different from the old Dream's. Damn, I'm not knowledgeable enough about this...

Need to reread everything, I guess.

(But I want to write about it *now*!)

Anyone know a good Sandman community? ETA: Actually, if there's anyone here who *really* knows their Sandman, and wouldn't mind discussing it a bit with me, I'd really appreciate that so, so much.

Hm, as far as I recall Matthew usually delivers his messages to humans informally (as to Rose Walker or Barbie, for example), but I think if he were to be sent to one of the other Endless or someone like Titania, he'd go for full formality.

Heh. There's no way around rereading all of it, is there? *sigh* Not that it's terrible to reread Sandman, not at all - it's just that I have so much other stuff to read. Even despite being on sick leave and all, and despite my Ph.D. probably being dead, I should still, probably, keep working on it a bit at least, just in case it should turn out to be only "almost dead". And also, I should probably do other work stuff, because - hopefully - there's going to be a point where I'll go back to work in some fashion, and I should be at least somewhat prepared then. Though my therapist says I shouldn't work right now. - And I also seriously want to find some way to get back into reading LJ, and reading fic on a somewhat regular basis again.

But dammit, I also want to write this fic, the first three pages are just too good to let them go to waste. (The excerpt above, needless to say as it's kinda crap, isn't from the first three pages.)

I don't know what it is about LoM, but all my fics in this fandom turn into these massive research monsters. I read years of the 1974/1975 Guardian, not to mention stuff about atomic bomb explosions, for The MAD Doctrine, I've been researching medical stuff for my "Sam survives the jump" fic for *years* now (as well as trying to get a sense of the genre of police procedurals), and this crossover obviously requires a deep immersion in early Gaiman. This never happened to me in any of my previous fandoms!

*le sigh*
