(New city, new internship, new flat with whole bunch of frighteningly young new people - between ten and sixteen years younger than me.)

Sorry I'm so late. Sorry I'm still not e-mailing nor reading LJ. I underestimated how overwhelmed I'd be by the new internship and all. I only managed to make myself install my mail program a couple of days ago, and only today began sorting through the accumulated several thousand mails in the various inboxes. On the plus side, the frighteningly young people scare me so much I'll probably hide in my room a lot (at least as long as I'm fortunate enough to have a room of my own; that may change), which means I may actually find the time to read LJ for real, sometime soon. (Sightseeing is pretty much out because the weather here's been crap since I arrived.)

Don't worry about being busy - you're off doing EXCITING THINGS, and I'm also getting to the age now, where I can empathise about you YOUNG these young people insist on being. (At my work we have three, well, interns I suppose for lack of a better word sent to us for extended, paid work experience by the Council and as the junior-slightly-better-than-an-intern-but-only-just admin person, I often end up "in charge" of giving them stuff to do. AND THEY'RE LIKE 12 YEARS OLD OR SOMETHING. Okay, not literally, but they are almost a decade younger than I am...)

ALSO OWLBEARS. I DISAPPROVE. THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING. I DIS. APPROVE. *folds arms and glares and heads off to buy an APPROPRIATE shirt, like one about gelatinous cubes...*

Und ich freue mich auf meinen Besuch bei Dir im Oktober. Bis dahin könntest du eruieren, wo es die leckersten Fischbrötchen gibt:-) Ich hoffe, Du hast Spaß und lernst viel. Rechne damit, dass ich alles, alles, alles wissen will.

Don't worry about the youngsters, they seem to pop up everywhere nowadays, but it's older people's attitude and wisdom that count more than a face without wrinkles! ;)

Happy belated birthday! If you can give me your new postal address, I can try and have my infamous parcel delivered soon. Otherwise, if you think it's not safe to send it over to Hamburg, we'll just have to wait until you're back in Frankfurt in a few months.
