Maaaaan. I hate my uni, sometimes.

hmpfSo, they decided, out of the blue, that we needed to pay our fees a month early. I somehow missed the memo. So now I'm suddenly a month late (even though the term isn't even over yet!) and have to pay a surcharge because of that. 30 euros, in addition to the 270 I'd have to pay normally. Given that I'm nearly completely broke and with no job in sight, and health insurance fees have just gone up again, too, that really, *really* hurts.
I'm actually almost considering not enrolling again. There'd be two advantages to that: I wouldn't have to pay 300 euros in uni fees, and I'd finally be able to get on welfare. (Not that that's a nice prospect, but it's better than not knowing where next month's rent is going to come from.) Unfortunately, there's also two rather significant disadvantages: It's very difficult to get a semi-skilled/non-skilled part-time job if you're not a student, and it's even more difficult to get an internship - and I need one or two internships if I want to qualify for proper jobs in my field(s). (There's also a side benefit to remaining enrolled as a student, which is that you get a six-month ticket for all public transport not just in my city but actually for most of my part of the country.)
Still. Those 30 extra euros *really* annoy me.

If I downgraded my webspace and changed hosts I could probably save around 30 euros per year. I could also try to find a cheaper bank. And I could eat spaghetti with tomato sauce more often (only costs a few cents to make; one of the cheapest yet still reasonably good dishes I know.) But, frell, there isn't much in my life that can be downgraded anymore. (Already cancelled my comic subscriptions six months ago or so...)
But there's some fannish things ahead that cost a fair bit of money but that I think I *really* should attend, because they're fairly good places to meet people who work in fields I'm interested in. And, where else can I 'network', with my type of social life, skills, and interests, if not at cons - and eco events? So, I need to find a way to fit at least a couple or so of such events into my finances this year. (I need to start making lots of jewellery, clearly. And sell it, of course.)
