I love Farscape so much. It's like it was specifically made to fit into a Farscape-shaped slot in my soul that had always been waiting for it.
I need someone new to scape. It's been two years since I last made a convert.

In other news - or, well, in news, as the above hardly constitutes news: I've sent three job applications in the last two days, and will send another tomorrow. That brings the total (since finishing uni) up to five, which may not sound like a very high number, but you have to remember my qualifications are somewhat exotic, so there aren't many jobs that I can actually apply for. So far I've applied to two archaeological museums, one arts and crafts museum, and to my university's enrollment office. The job I'm about to apply for tomorrow (well, today, really) is with an environmental organisation.

Schade eigentlich. :/
Ja, geht mir ähnlich.

Date: 2009-10-02 07:10 pm (UTC)Your job prospects sound much better than mine. (I've also applied for ~five jobs recently. None of them were exciting though).
Out of curiosity, do you absolutely need qualifications in X job to get it in Germany? Because over here, unless it says so, you can apply for most stuff (and I always say I'll take training if I have to because a) I think it helps and b) I love learning new stuff) I mean, I do try to look for stuff that I am qualified for or have experience of, but I just wondered if that was an absolute rule over there or not.
Heh. How do you know I have prospects?
Date: 2009-10-02 07:32 pm (UTC)I apply for every jobs the requirements of which I think I can meet maybe 70% of, and which doesn't sound morally repulsive to me. (Whoah, sorry for that horrible sentence, my brain refuses to work properly at the moment.) But since the jobs I apply for are jobs that are very attractive to lots of people, and there are thousands of people out there who are actually properly qualified for them, the only chance I have of getting one of these jobs is if, say, everybody else who might apply happens to be sick that week, or something.
But, yeah, generally, in Germany you need to have the proper qualifications for a job. Usually you also need "experience", so what most people do is either intern a lot while still at uni, or/and intern a lot after uni, always hoping to make connections that will allow them to get an actual, proper job sometime. I didn't do any internships, so I will probably have to do them now, although at the moment I'm - foolishly? - applying for 'real' jobs anyway.
well, I meant in the sense of yours sounded more interesting than mine
Date: 2009-10-02 10:03 pm (UTC)I hate that experience thing, you know, because how do you get experience if you don't have it? Vicious circle, I know.
I wouldn't say applying for jobs was foolish. But that reminds me, I've been reading a couple of books about How To Get A Job (only useful for teaching me how to write a covering letter) and it mentions making all these connections, like the internship thing, and I'm there thinking, "Whut?" because, to me, the world does not work that way. Or maybe my thinking is old fashioned?
