Yes, the german "active" SF-Scene is indeed tiny. Well, there are for example a lot of "Perry-Rhodan"-Readers - otherwise the series wouldn't go on and on and on and on - but only a small group is interested in visiting cons and doing active fan work... As I mentioned it in Frell Me Dead: You know the faces after a while. So you have a personal invitation from Robert Vogel?
