I just cut myself on a mysteriously broken glass (it basically just... broke, without any discernible reason. It was just standing beside my bed, peacefully, and broke. I wasn't even near it. *boggles*), a long cut along the length of my thumb, fairly deep from the look of it - and there's absolutely no blood!

It hurts, though.

Random fic and meta recs I meant to do days, or in one case even weeks ago:

[livejournal.com profile] beccatoria, who has complicated feelings about fanfic, nevertheless produces gorgeous fic, for instance this BSG fic, written from the POV of minor character Maya and set during the Cylon occupation of New Caprica. (I like that we both write about Mayas who are such minor characters in their respective canons that they may as well be original characters in fic. *g*)

[livejournal.com profile] amonitrate writes stunningly beautiful, surreal, criminally ignored Twin Peaks fic here. And I just noticed that the comment I thought I'd left when I read it at work recently apparently didn't get through or whatever, so when I'm done reccing I'll head over there and comment (again).

[livejournal.com profile] sylviavolk2000 has some interesting - and amusingly phrased - thoughts about structure in her writing here. If you check a few entries back and a few ahead from there, you'll also find other interesting meta posts about writing there. All very different from how I write, and probably very different from how you write ;-) but I always find it interesting to read other people's thoughts about writing.

Wow, well firstly thanks for the recc (when I get around to posting again, I think I may have to rec 68W, but I feel the need to mention I was thinking about doing that - again probably waaaay late because I'm lazy about posting - now so that you don't think it was some sort of guilt reciprocal recc!).

Secondly, while you are correct I do have complicated feelings about me producing fan fic, and sometimes the way other people produce it, I feel the need to state to the wider world that I am in no way one of those people who thinks it is a BADWRONG thing and thoroughly support the rights of fans all over the world to invent original female characters named Maya make characters sleep with each other! ;) And, you know, do fabulously original things with those characters and wonderful words.

(And yes; I know you know that already! But you know me and my clausing and explaination addiction!)

I wouldn't ever worry about that with you. I've seen you react to the story in person, and also, I know you too well, and I don't think you'd ever do a 'guilt rec'. Praise from friends is often a bit tricky, but I trust yours. :-)
