hmpf: Cole and Ramse from the show not actually called "Splinter" (rainbows)

During my recent stay in the north of Germany, where I was working on (at? my brain's too fried to handle prepositions now) a dig, I managed to write three pages of a new, semi-plotty LOM fic in the evenings. I also significantly revised and improved the work in progress that used to be known (or not) as "the untitled Maya fic", was later renamed "Moving On", and has now been renamed again. It's called "Möglichkeitssinn" now, thus continuing my tradition of giving my Life On Mars fics incomprehensible German titles. (Yes, the fic itself is in English. What did you think?)

I've also translated "Auf dem Sprung in die Tiefe verhungern" into German. Will probably post it here one of these days.

Hello and welcome back! Did you have fun at the dig site? I hope so. :)

It's great to read that you've managed to write some LoM fic: you know how much I love your way of writing, and I can't wait to read something new. Please, let it be soon.

Oh, and while talking about LoM, I'd like to thank you again for the inspiration and advice you gave me for my latest fic 'The Long Way Home' ( http://space-oddity-75.livejournal.com/9876.html ). It's the Sam/Maya fic I was talking to you about last time we were online on ICQ. Undoubtedly, my writings never be as interesting and well-written as yours, but this was the best I could come up with. Thanks again for giving me your support when I was stuck and in need of good ideas. You rock! :)

The dig was fun, yes.

I got a lot of work done there, too - uni work, and some fic and articles for fannish purposes, too.

I spent a few weeks at my parents' afterwards, to write a paper without being distracted by my own little household and the Evil Internet. There, I found out that MTV has turned into a good source for medical research: they have a show called "Scarred", which is all about people having horrible accidents (and taking videos of them, before, during, and after). It's yucky to the extreme, but it actually cleared up a couple of medical questions I had... I have loads of new material for having one of our trademark Morbid Chats with you now. *g*

But first, I need to finish another paper.

I haven't read your fic yet (see previous sentence for reason), but I've taken a quick look - long enough to see that I really like the tone of it.

Of course, doing that immediately set off the fic writing parts of my brain, and I had to spend two and a half hours last night - that I *really* should have spent sleeping! - writing fic. Arrgh. I used the bout of urgent inspiration to work a bit on "Möglichkeitssinn", which is proving to be a very, very difficult fic indeed. Such a lot of stuff in there doesn't work as it should yet... I think I spent an entire hour rewriting a five-sentence paragraph, only to end up replacing it with the original version again - which also doesn't work, but is slightly better than anything I could come up with yesterday night.

The MacSlow method of writing at its worst.
