hmpf: Me painted blue (fanatic)

The one that's a bit like Ursula K. LeGuin or Marge Piercy. The one that tells you all you really need to know about monsters under your bed. The one with the cutest wizard, the sexiest demon, and the tastiest angst. The one with the most inappropriate humour (... and it gives good angst, too). Or, no, strike that - this is the one with the most inappropriate humour. The one that's a bit like Buffy. The one with the best dialogue. The one with the scariest 're-imagination' of Little Red Riding Hood. The one with lots of zeppelins! The most nightmarish one. (And the runner up.) The one with mathematics. The one I keep plugging here. The psychedelic one. The one with the anti-Hogwarts. - All of these are either 'properly' finished, or still active. The links are to a random page from each comic that I happen to like. You can find the main pages by following the navigational buttons/links beneath the images, as per usual.

(No, I'm not bailing out on the conversation further down... I was just too tired/busy for it yesterday and today. And before you ask how I can then find the time to post something like this post: well, it's an older compilation I made for a forum I mod. I just felt like posting something fun and geeky here today, so I recycled it. Besides, all of these comics deserve lots more readers! *g* And now I'm off to bed.)

Talking of which, did you know she did another one, called Digger? Which is really good (so I'm told, I haven't read any). She's been nominated for an Eisner because of it. *squees*

in case you couldn't tell, this woman is like a goddess to me. Or something.

Yup, I know about Digger.

And I really want to read it. Unfortunately it's on one of the subscription sites - Graphic Smash or Modern Tales - and while those don't ask for a lot of money, they do require a credit card to subscribe. And I don't have a credit card. :-(

Fortunately there are a lot of great webcomics out there.

Oh, and Finder got an Eisner or two, too. :-)

OK then! I just never know who knows what about Ursula, because mostly people look at me and go, "Huh?". Also did you know she has an LJ? [/spamming about Ursula]

Graphics Smash - yeah, the fact that it's one you have to subscribe to is what puts me off, too, sadly. Although she's released an anthology of the first year, and the second one's out soon, I think (well, there's two antholgies, anyway).

YAY for Finder winning Eisners! And also YAY for great webcomics (sadly, being on dial-up doesn't lend itself to their reading).

Actually I'm not sure if Finder won any Eisners. I know it's been *nominated*, and I know it's won a number of awards, but I'm not sure if the Eisners were just a nomination or an actual win. Oh well, even an Eisner *nomination* is an honour.

Oh, and a heads-up for Digger: The archives are currently free - just discovered this accidentally yesterday. No idea how long they will stay free, though. I don't really have time to read them now. :-(

Yup, yup, noms for Eisners are as good as wins! I was dead tired when I wrote that last comment (and am not much better now!) and so misread/miswrote/mis-something'd, anyway...

YAY! Thanks for the heads-up *runs to look*

I think the mistake was mine - I was tired when I typed that bit about Finder and the Eisners, too. ;-)

As for Digger... arrrgh.

1.) I should have spent today doing some *really* important work for uni I have almost *no* time left to do.

2.) I thought, "well, taking a look at the first couple of pages of Digger can't hurt, can it?"

3.) Now it's a day and 260 or so pages later, I got no work done, am totally panicking as to when to actually *do* all that work, and know that Digger is one of the top five or so webcomics I know, and one of the best *comics* I know, period. The art! The writing! The characters! The worldbuilding! Ahh, the worldbuilding...

Dahahahaha! And here was me thinking I should apologise for distracting you (if only in a minor way) from your studies!

That's the two things I love about Ursula, you know? The art and the stories - the things that just spring into her head as (or before) she creates the art. As for he worldbuilding, you know, I'm not sure how much of it was planned! So either she's amazing at making it up as she goes along (in which case, we hates her, precious!), or...she did plan it out. But from what I've read in her journal, she pretty much didn't...(so we hates her...)

Anyway, glad you're liking it, even if you should be studying *G*
