I love Farscape.
Mar. 24th, 2006 02:34 amThere. I bet you're all *very* surprised now. *g*
I just felt like I needed to say this again, 'cause with all the Methos gushing in my LJ recently it would be easy to lose my other big fannish love(s) from sight. But today I finished betaing the penultimate part of the German Farscape fansubs, and in the course of that, while going through the ep in question in fast forward, it struck me again how much I love this show. The ep in question was "Lava's a many splendored thing", one of the weaker offerings of season four, which itself is probably the weakest season of the show, so it's far from a prime example of what Farscape could be. And yet... there's so much to love even there. The moment that really brought it home to me was the end of the ep, when our intrepid heroes receive a message from Pilot after several months of separation from him and Moya, and there is so much relief, tenderness, and love for Pilot and Moya on their faces, and in their voices as they listen to the message and talk about it. And, Farscape being Farscape, the writers do not hit us over the head with the 'message' of the scene; it is never stated explicitly - yet still, it is crystal clear: Moya (and Pilot) are these people's home, part of their family.
In a way, that is more of a homecoming than the actual homecoming of John that we witness later in the season.
