I want to enter the mind of David Kemper.
Sep. 2nd, 2002 02:06 pmKadira and I just finished watching 'Unrealized Reality' (Farscape 4.11), which means now we'll have to wait through four months of Farscape drought. As always when I've watched this ep (it's been the third time for me) I feel as if my brain is smoking like Scorpy's when he needs to change cooling rods. I suspect David Kemper is really from some strange parallel universe, maybe he came to Earth through a wormhole from another reality... ;-) Seriously, the last three eps this man has written have all been weird as hezmana. (Dog With Two Bones, Crichton Kicks, and Unrealized Reality)
Right now, the aspects that are frelling with my mind the most are Aeryn's practising to pronounce the word 'existence' (or something very similar) just before John entered the wormhole, and the very short glimpses of Bad Stuff Happening to John's friends and family on Earth. Glimpses into the future of the show, perhaps? And, BTW, has everyone forgotten about John's sisters? They appeared neither in Dog With Two Bones nor in Unrealized Reality!
Some dissociated thoughts on the much-maligned Season Four before I return to killing Methos in a fic. I've just watched most of the season for the second time, and - much like Season Three - it all comes together much nicer now than at the first viewing. The worst episodes aren't so bad after all, and the good episodes are even better than I though - especially I Shrink Therefore I Am. That was a work of genius -- my feelings towards it are similar to my feelings towards Season Three's Thanks For Sharing: at first glance, I recognized it was a good, probably a very good ep, but at the second viewing, I suddenly noticed it was more than that -- it was vintage Farscape, a truly great ep. Not very arc-relevant, true, but it had great character and relationship moments and some truly hilarious situations. Not to mention John in Die Hard Mode, which is always fun, too. I also loved Aeryn riding 1812!
Okay, gotta go write a bit now. I'd love to ramble on here for a bit, but I have a character to kill. (Though I doubt I will get to that bit today!)
