With a little help from my friends... (thanks)

I just realised that in the last twelve to fifteen months I've discovered more music I didn't know than ever before in my life. I've been living without radio or tv for about four years now, and consequently have got quite out of touch with current music. Even before I stopped listening to the radio, though, there was hardly any music on there that I liked - that was one of my reasons for stopping, in fact.

But I enjoy discovering music, and so I am very grateful to the friends who have introduced me to music they liked that turned out to be compatible with my tastes.

So, some thanks are in order:

- to dunkle_feuer for introducing me to Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson
- to nager for introducing me to Pain of Salvation and Alamaailman Vasarat

All of these and more I would not have found without your help. *g*

So... judging from these, and with the additional information that I in recent years I've particularly liked Radiohead, Björk, tindersticks, Natalie Merchant, Nick Cave, Radio Tarifa, The Klezmatics... what's my taste? Dark ethnic songwriter progressive metal post-rock?

Hm.

For me, the main thing all these have in common is that they make landscapes in my mind, just like most of my favourite books.

I've already come to that conclusion a few days ago. I watched a fanvid based on one of their songs ('Touched'). Reminded me rather of Kate Bush in parts... uhm... but that may be because I only know very little of Kate Bush, and what little I know happens to have the same kind of tribal voices in the background *g*. Anyway, I liked it (I like Kate Bush, as well *g*), and am already considering checking out more of their music. :-)
