hmpf: the ears of love (ears of love)

I'm still not quite done reading the T&R archives, and I've just now reached September 03, where the cartoonist does something... uhm... I'm still not sure if it's amazingly daring or amazingly boring. Possibly both. Anyway: at that point of the story the protagonists find a machine called a 'Recapulon' which, well, recaps. - It recaps the - entire- first - year - of - the - comic! The recap runs for 20 strips... that's three weeks! Must have driven readers crazy at the time... I'm lucky, I can read it in one sitting in the archives now! *g*

Gotta hand it to Patrick Shaughnessy, he's not afraid of alienating his readers. Well, okay, we knew that since he invented Alienating Readers Week, I guess... but still, that mammoth recap must have been more like Alienating Readers Month!

Check it out for yourselves. It starts here:

It's kinda fun, in a way.

Okay, I once believed that there was nothing more you could produce from the dark reaches that would scare me more than the lego pictures but here you have surpassed yourself. Having read up to 1567 I am now completely confused and more than a little concerned for the sanity of the poor cartoonist - can't we arrange for him to be sent to a nice little padded cell with white walls and well-fitted jackets??

But what would I read then?

You see, T&R is oddly addictive.

Nah, don't worry about the writer. As long as he's having fun... He's not harming anyone (except for Triangle and Robert, I guess) ;-)

I just discovered I was wrong to assume the Recapulon recapped only the first year... dear God, how long does it continue? I wouldn't put it past the author to actually have it recap all three years of the comic...

If you want to be less disturbed, you could read some Zebragirl. That's just a normal urban fantasy story, and once the author finds his feet after the first few strips it's really, really nicely drawn, as well.

Oh no, he definately finishes at least year two - I gave up at that point and he was about to start on three :S

if I didn't know the strip and were genuinely interested in finding out how it continues.

I take back what I said about 'Alienating Readers Month' - it's actually 'Alienating Readers Year' I think - he must have spent about three months recapping.

but at least he breaks it up with the discussion of telepathic sheep....
