hmpf: Cole and Ramse from the show not actually called "Splinter" (happy)

I've been to goth heaven. It was right next door to tie-dye heaven, piercing heaven, hair extension heaven, and latex heaven.

In other words, I've been to the Oasis.

I'm impressed. It's like a department store for off-mainstream lifestyles, only that each department is, apparently, a separate shop, and the architecture is somewhat more labyrinthine than your average department store's. Weird shopping experience. I kept thinking 'my clothes are too boringly mainstream for this place', but then I remembered [livejournal.com profile] tiniago's praise of my, uhm, 'style', and walked taller.

I now have my green hair dye, and I'm doing a strand test right now.

It badly made me want to buy accessories for Farscape costumes. They had all the leather, the latex, the boots, the hair colours you could wish for. I could have assembled a Sikozu, Chiana or PK outfit there on the spot. It's a shame my standard costume is Zhaan.

I also bought some really cheap CDs (Beth Orton and some very early Midnight Oil) in one of the indoor markets down by the Bullring, and a hat against the sun for the dig.

Then I went to the new and shiny part of the city centre. It's a bit like walking through an architect's computer simulation, all clean and postmodern and antiseptic, with bright red and yellow brick and unchallenging monumental modern art and grass and trees that look like plastic. It is about as authentic as Disneyland, but it has an intriguingly surreal atmosphere.

I found the waterfall from the dream I had yesterday. Or one very similar to it, anyway. It wasn't as high as the one in my dream, and it lacked the statues, and it was outdoors, not indoors, and you couldn't float near it, but it *was* integrated in a wall, and had about the right width and general look. I've decided to call it coincidence.

I sat in one of the horrible coffee shops (Costa, this time) and wrote for about two hours. Then I decided I needed to go home to listen to my new CDs.
