Meant to go to bed, but suddenly felt like writing a tiny little bit yet. So I opened my throwaway Farscape ficlet that's been sort of hanging around since, err, 2008? And is kind of the definition of unnecessary fic, as it's just a completely run-of-the-mill bit of John angst?
So I haven't been working very hard on it, ever, because it's just not that interesting - it's just this thing that was sort of around, and occasionally I'd add a bit or subtract a bit or shift a few sentences around, idly, when I wanted to write but didn't feel like immersing myself in something more challenging/time-consuming. So I did that today again - and it's kind of almost finished now. o.O
Not *quite* finished yet. But maybe in a few days.
Couldn't this kind of "whoops, I accidentally almost finished this" thing happen to one of my main fics, for a change? *grumble*

Date: 2012-03-13 04:09 pm (UTC)It's also not me at the top of my game.
Farscape fandom must be very puzzled by my fic output...
2001: A River in Egypt: mediocre
2003: Rise and Shine: decent
2006: Normal: awesome.
2010: The Breakfast of Losers: decent
2012 (I think): Dead Man's Jacket: mediocre
It must look like I'm two different writers. :D
Come to think of it, my output in LoM follows a similar pattern:
2007: Starving on the Jump Down: decent
2008: How to Love a Madman: decent
2009: The Last Lost Generation: mediocre
2012: The Mad Doctrine: awesome
And as for Highlander...:
2000: This Is Your Time: dire
2001: Sometimes We Believe: decent
2001: Epilogue: mediocre
2002: Names: decent
2003: Endure: flawed awesomeness
2010: 68 Wives: awesome
Very large quality fluctuations in all, but at least with Highlander and LoM there's a kind of progression whereas with Farscape it's just up and down. (I do think I have one or two further awesome FS fics in me, btw - they will just take a while to produce and are currently on the back burner. I just know that they're high quality bunnies.) And I think as I keep adding to my LoM fic that will also develop and up and down pattern, rather than a steady progression, because I think the Maya fic may turn out to be just decent, rather than awesome. (The Sandman crossover should turn out awesome if I do it right, though.)
