hmpf: Cole and Ramse from the show not actually called "Splinter" (Default)

On Thursday last week I got on a bus to London Stansted. Roughly 13 hours later, at midnight - after a bus trip of four hours, a flight of one hour something, and another bus ride of 1,5 hours or so, plus waiting time at airports, coach stations etc. - I arrived at Frankfurt train station where I was picked up by AnduraNova whom some of you may know as the editor of fabulous vids. ;-) I stayed at her place for the night, and the next morning, after a very short night, for of course we had lots to talk about after six weeks of separation, we were joined by two other friends of mine for breakfast.

After breakfast, one of them stayed with us because she was going to take part in the weekend's FS extravaganza, too. We left for Homberg/Efze, a small, romantic town smack in the middle of Germany by early afternoon and arrived just about two hours later at the beautiful late-medieval house we had rented for the weekend. RueScap and Sky (both of whom occasionally post at Kansas and FMD, I believe) were already there, and we started getting to know each other in RL and then, when more people arrived, began setting up the equipment (DVD player, beamer, sound system, big screen... airbeds... *g*). About half of the assembled 22 Scapers there were newbies to our time-honoured mini con, so it was rather interesting getting to know all these new people. It was also very nice to see all the old familiar faces... with each year, these meetings feel more like a family meeting.

We started the program by watching some music vids while Dashan cooked pasta and tomato sauce for the whole bunch of hungry Scapers, then continued it after dinner with some crucial S3 episodes (we had one newbie to the show among us who didn't know the third season yet). By two a.m. I was so inspired by the overdose of FS that I simply had to get out my laptop and write some fic.

Well, despite there being such a lot of FS to watch, we still had to go to bed sometime... or not, for some of us simply fell asleep on the airbeds in front of the screen! For my part, I went to bed by 5 a.m. and had considerable difficulties getting out of bed the next morning! Luckily, AnduraNova had ordered what seemed like a truckload of rolls, so there was still enough left when I finally came down for breakfast. *g*

The day continued much like the first one - lots of Farscape, interrupted by pauses for eating, talking, and taking short walks through the beautiful little town and up the mountain to visit the castle. Lots of crisps and sweets were consumed, earning the event the inofficial name 'Eat Fatty Foods Con'. I talked to lots of people that I knew from previous TBFCs, but also quite a few of the newbies. We did a 'Best of' for S3 and S4 for the benefit of the few newbies among us, although I'm afraid it was a very rushed version of the two seasons - but then, you can't really fit two whole seasons into just two days.

In fact, we had to extend our FS watching session to Sunday, 'cause Friday and Saturday combined were just too short. Hence, the last two episodes of S4, as well as the Farwell and the outtakes, were watched on Sunday. Markus, one of our newbies, then regaled us with an absolutely hilarious video of a Farscape fan's reaction to seeing the last three minutes of 4.22 , which we agreed should really be sent to Henson and to the SciFi Channel, because it said more than a thousand letters.

Then, much too soon, we had to pack up, clean the rooms we had used, and leave... but seeing how much fun everybody had, I think it's a safe bet that almost everybody will be back!

By 5 a.m. the next morning I was back in Birmingham. I won't bore you with the details of the trip. It was quite a bit shorter than the first one, though - less waiting time.

Pictures are, as always, here:

Today being Halloween and after you told me about all the weird stuff FS has done (you never sent me those videos, btw), I wonder if there was ever a Halloween Special like the Simpsons do every year. Was there ever something like this?

BTW, I have my own weblog now. Not a LiveJournal, though. It's a matter of pride (and lack of an LJ code:-) for me to develop something like this myself and host it on my own webspace. You can find my Blog (which, btw, is called "Fire, Gray and Darkness")
at http://tagebuch.schneepoesie.de
It has a picture of my Halloween pumpkin.

Speaking of not being an LJ-user, if you are the only anonymous person in a place, are you really anonymous? I'm just wondering because I seem to be the only Anonymous commenting your LJ. At least I don't remember seeing other anonymous comments in your LJ. I don't read all the comments, of course, so I may have overlooked someone (My apologies to Anonymous:-)

Funny. I just notice that according to the time LJ lists for my comment, I wrote it almost 1 day before your actual entry. Damn, I'm good ;-)

Hmmm...

My system date is fine. Besides, how would LJ know about my system date in the first place?
Look at the time of your own comment. Did you really write it at 16:47? In bright daylight? That would be very unlike you, Vampire Lady ;-)

I think the time for the actual entries is based on the LJ owner's locale (which presumeably you configured somewhere), whereas the time for the comments is always local time on the LJ server somewhere in the US.

Yeah, I remember promising you those CDs. In fact, I started burning them, and two of them *are* done. And then my CD burner broke down, and afterwards my Real Life started monopolising my time. I will try and finish the CDs in December when I'm back in Germany...
