found it near all the other exotic bread at Sainsbury's. It's made in Holland. Usually I believe we shouldn't have our food shipped all around the globe (or all around Europe, as the case may be), as it's not exactly great for the environment, but for German yoghurt and bread I am making exceptions here...

I better not ask what you had to pay for the bread...

It's real rye bread.

Actually, I don't know.

There was no price tag. Probably fortuitious: I might not have bought it had I known the price! *g*

I spent the last week on Fuerteventura (with my parents. I'm soooo lame:-) and there you can get actual imported German bread at the same price as here in Germany. And Fuerteventura is even further away than Britain and much less connected.

I empathize

Though I was never long enough in England to try. But in the US, where the local bread is... let's just not go there. However, the big cities like L.A. and New York also offer lots of bakeries run by immigrants.

And yes, otherwise I'm all for "when in Rome, do as the Romans". But you know, it's not good for our teeth, not getting sensible bread for so long. It's a medical necessity.*g*

One wonders...

how the people here manage to live without any fibre; and why their teeth don't fall out! ;-)
