And can somebody please tell me what Thom Yorke is doing on the Twilight soundtrack? Because that bit of information, courtesy of youtube, was my WTF moment of the day. o.O
Also, Nick Cave's old enough to mellow out a bit, whereas Thom Yorke still seems quite strongly anti-all-kinds-of-things.
I don't particularly *mind*, see - it just feels weirdly out of character for him. I've actually googled "Thom Yorke Twilight why" just now, but the internet didn't have an answer for me, either.
there's a Harry Potter-Radiohead connection, too, did you know? Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway were in the Weird Sisters or whatever the name of that wizards' band was.
But, yeah, I reiterate what I said before: Harry Potter may be lackluster, but not actively morally repulsive. And between the five of them, the guys of Radiohead have something like a dozen kids by now, so I can see them being okay with & even liking the idea of being in a popular family movie.
The Twilight thing, though... is still a head scratcher. (Incidentally, trying to find out something more about this is what set off my sad spiralling into obsession in the last few weeks. If it hadn't been for the puzzlement of that, I probably wouldn't have ventured beyond listening to the new tracks on youtube - and I wouldn't have discovered, by watching interviews and the like, what an interesting guy Thom Yorke actually is. Or seems to be - it's not like you can find out that much about him, really, but what you can find out hints at an interesting person.)
(I've spent an entirely unhealthy amount of time watching Thom Yorke interviews and stuff like that on youtube yesterday, discovering he's unexpectedly and weirdly endearing sometimes. Also, tiny - he's the same height as I, apparently! Didn't actually know a lot about him before, except that he made music that I've liked for something like 14 years now... As a rule, I don't seek out info on the people behind the music I like. Seriously, I had no idea that he could be someone the words "painfully adorable" might be applied to by youtube posters with some degree of justification. I'm still boggled... (not by the fact that a youtube poster used those words, because well, that's a *youtube* comment - but by the fact that I kind of agree).
Generally speaking, though, the fan comments for Radiohead videos on youtube are a bit creepy in their shameless hyperbole.)
