Discovering, and failing to understand, a new accent practically every time you start something new.

Today: Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1974.

The accent really isn't worlds away from the Mancunian I'm kind of used to thanks to LoM. But somehow, it's still different enough to be nearly incomprehensible, at the moment.

ETA: Oh, and that jacket? Definitely a close relation to Sam's.

Here's a question for you, although I suspect I know the answer: do the two accents sound the same to you? (i.e. Mancunian and Yorkshire) Because even in Britain, a lot of people can't tell the two apart, and I am curious to know anyway.

Well, I'm not sure.

I do know that I used to be able to understand most of Life on Mars, after a period of getting used to the accent - yet now I seem to be unable to understand several of the characters on Red Riding. I'm not sure if that's because I haven't practiced listening to Mancunian in a while, or because the accents on Red Riding are thicker than those on LoM, or because the accents are simply different.
