I'm still frighteningly creative, solving the accumulated plot problems of *years* in my fic like there's no tomorrow, and building three Knytt Stories levels in parallel (yesterday I created some sixty concept screens! In less than three hours! The high I got from that must have been as good as any you could get from illegal substances, I think. *g* Yes, no-holds-barred creativity is definitely addictive.)
Only problem is, technically I need to focus *completely* on my job search, because I really, really, *really* need some money... I just don't quite know how to do that. Find a job, that is. (Focus, too. Focusing is haaaaard.)
I *am* checking loads of sites every day and so on, but there's very little available in the lines of work that I could usefully do.
Oh, who am I kidding. Of course I know what I need to do (beside finding a couple of internships, that is): I need to start actually approaching companies and organisations and institutions that I'm interested in without waiting for ads.
I'm just frelling scared of that.

Date: 2010-02-23 02:05 am (UTC)I, too, am scared of approaching companies off the cuff. If it's any encouragement, I sent off a speculative letter, cv and and a sample sheet to a local company who weren't advertsing but are in my field, and they got back to me saying although they had no vacancies at present, the lady in question had been thinking of having someone in the role of what was essentially my old job. I went in and had a chat and she seemed to like my stuff.
Hasn't come to anything yet, however, she assures me I am in the "to do" pile, and she needs to have some meetings to see if her idea is viable...but it is more response than I have got out of a lot of the applications I send off.
I am still not "really" doing the spec letter thing, though, although I probably should - in fact doing it by letter would be easier than by phone, so I really just should...! Argh! Why so skeery??
Anyway, congrats on the creative whirlwind!! Sounds fun!
edited to say: as jobs are on my mind afteer this post, I went looking at fish4jobs.co.uk, onnly to find that:
"We apologise, but due to exceptionally heavy demand, we are unable to carry out your request at the moment."
What's going on!! Are there loads of job searchers who are insomniacs?? Actually, could be.
