Americans, call your senators, please:

This is really, really, really important, people. If this piece of legislation doesn't win through, the chances of the negotiations in Copenhagen later this year having a useful result will shrink dramatically - and they're already small. And Copenhagen is likely to be our last chance to get some sort of framework in place for managing this crisis, which is very likely to be the first truly civilisation-threatening environmental crisis in our history.
And so far the conservative/denier messaging machine is winning.
Don't let them win. They are *not* the majority. They're just loud. Let's be loud, too.
Call your senators and support the Waxman-Markey bill. Talk to your friends and family and make them call, too.
I know statements like this always sound ridiculous, but: this is not just about American politics. This is about the future of humankind, and everything else that lives on this planet.
