>Alas, the Jossverse vids are all in different locations and I'm too lazy to find all the links right now.
Well, how large are they? I'm not sure how large an attachment gmx will accept... Do you have ICQ? You can send files with ICQ...
>However: for good, gen HP fanfiction, I recommend Marina Frants, whom you might remember as a Methos writer, aka Mariner.
Ah. I'd already discovered Mariner, but didn't know she was Marina. Yes, I remember her from HL.
>This story http://www.sff.net/people/frants/fallonme.html features Sirius and Lupin.
That was one of the first I discovered.
>This one http://www.sff.net/people/frants/smalltruce1.html is about Sirius and Snape.
Okay, I will check that one out, as I don't know it yet.
Both, I remind you, completely unslashy, and all of the above named are in character.
>And by the way, good old Severus IS haunted and slightly cracked. And sarcastic, which makes for entertaining reading. And as opposed to Sirius never was a golden boy with the in-crowd.
I wouldn't exactly call Sirius a golden boy... But, you know, the fact that he was popular and careless and all that once is exactly the point for me. 'Fallhöhe' is the point. It's no accident I mentioned John and Frodo above - their stories are so similar. They're people who've so far been on the sunny side of life and suddenly become acquainted with the nightmarish side of it. I'm not sure why that fascinates me more than the ennoblement of the downtrodden... but it does. Which is strange, because given my history I should be sympathising more with the downtrodden. Maybe I'm kinda vengeful and this is why I like to see the popular and happy ones fall... though I wouldn't like to think that. Anyway, Sirius falls firmly into the Frodo and John category, and even if I cannot really explain why that type of character fascinates me so much, the fact remains that it's a pattern I've always fallen for.
>And the most shades-of-grey character
I'm not always the most intrigued by the most shade-of-grey character... Sometimes I am (Methos, Alucard), but just as often, I'm fascinated by the one with the greatest 'Fallhöhe' (How the frell do you say that in English? My dictionary wouldn't say.) Well, actually, Sirius definitely *is* a shade of grey. I get distinctly dangerous vibes off him - not exactly the makings of a good guy. He really reminds me of later seasons' John quite a bit.
>in Rowling's universe, since he still can't stand Our Hero, has the past from hell and yet is fighting for the good guys. Not that I'm partisan or anything.
I guess I can see that he's interesting. But Sirius is just as interesting - you could say they're both kind of in a similar place, but have come there from different directions.
