Amazing! An update to...

[hmpf]

... the *jewellery* section of my website!

(Seriously, this must be the first update there since the website's inception. Not that I don't have loads of stuff I should post pictures of... it's just that all that stuff is damaged in various ways because I've worn it and treated it carelessly... and I'm too lazy/busy to restore it to its former glory to take pictures of it.)

Well, here you go:

Du hast wirklich schönen Schmuck auf Deiner Homepage und Du kreierst wirklich außergewöhnliche Stücke, finde ich. Schön, stimmig, tragbar (also nicht total way off, aber sehr extravagant).
Aber das ist nicht das, was Du tun möchtest, oder?

They were a commission, based on a pendant the customer already had. My issues with them are mostly technical ones - a lot of things went wrong in the making of these, and to the studied eye, most of them are glaringly obvious. So, an example of good craftsmanship, this is not. And since I like to think of myself as a reasonably good craftswoman, that's a bit frustrating.

One thing that should be obvious even to the less practiced observer is that the pearls don't match. I have *no* idea what's up with that. WTF was going on in my head when I chose those two wildly mismatched pearls??? It's not like I didn't have better matching ones... I must have been temporarily insane or something.

I suppose seeing them in RL might make a difference, but via my computer screen, I liked them :) I'm looking forward to seeing work of your own design at some point!

Tragbarkeit ist schon wichtig, finde ich. Man will das Schmuckstück ja nicht bloß in 'ne Vitrine legen. Oder zumindest als normale Schmuckbenutzerin will man das nicht. *g* Wobei meine neueren Entwürfe - habe in letzter Zeit so einige gemacht - sich oft ein wenig von den konventionenelleren Vorstellungen von Schmuck wegbewegen (dabei aber trotzdem noch ziemlich im aktuellen Schmuckdesign-Mainstream liegen, wie ich nach Besuchen von www.metalcyberspace.com (http://www.metalcyberspace.com) feststellen mußte). Davon sieht man aber auf meiner Website noch nix - der Schmuck existiert noch nur auf dem Papier. Aber nach dem Magister... *g*

Was meinst Du mit "das ist nicht das, was Du tun möchtest"? Daß ich keinen schlicht stimmigen und tragbaren Schmuck machen möchte, oder daß ich keinen Schmuck machen möchte? Beides stimmt nur bedingt - ich möchte gerne wieder mehr Schmuck machen als in den letzten Jahren, wenn auch vielleicht nicht als ausschließliche Beschäftigung. Plane aber schon relativ ernsthaft einen Online-Shop oder sowas für Mitte/Ende 2009 (für die vermutlich unvermeidliche Arbeitslosigkeitsphase nach dem Studium - dann hab ich wenigstens was Sinnvolles zu tun *g*). Genug Entwürfe für relativ einfachen und damit bezahlbaren, für ein Online-Publikum interessanten Schmuck habe ich jetzt zusammen. Na ja, und was mein Ringen mit meinem Stilwillen/-anspruch angeht *g*... da habe ich in den letzten paar Jahren recht große Fortschritte gemacht. Ich weiß jetzt wesentlich besser als damals in der Ausbildung, wie 'mein' Stil aussieht, und habe mich weitgehend von den Zeichenakademie-Ansprüchen freigemacht, die noch viel meines früheren Outputs prägten. Wenn ich 2009 anfange, wieder etwas mehr zu produzieren, wird das etwas anders aussehen, als was man bisher von mir gewohnt ist. Aber nicht zu sehr - ich hoffe schon, daß man immer noch sehen kann, daß es Schmuck von *mir* ist. :-)
