that the situation is essentially irresolvable, of course. Which, granted, is kind of par for the course in much "serious" literature. But I'm finding it particularly difficult to manage, this time. I feel like I need to end it with a conversation - in particular, with the conversation I've already started writing. At the same time, it feels wrong for that conversation to come to even just a temporary resolution. Yet there needs to be something at least resembling it enough to feel like an ending of sorts.

I'll probably end up attaching some kind of trite "last" sentence again, just to make it feel "finished" - which my beta will quickly convince me to remove again. :D

Though no, I don't think so. Yes, I've continued stories beyond their natural end before - but usually not by much, just by a sentence or two. And what I have here doesn't feel like any kind of ending yet. (Although I *can* sense that it's getting close.)

Gah. I'm pretty sure this doesn't need a lot of work anymore. All it needs is a sudden inspiration, and not even a major one.

*One* idea.

(I wish I knew how to kickstart my brain for something like this.)
