Interesting:
Aug. 28th, 2009 03:15 pmboth Colin Beavan and Joe Romm today put up posts that explain why they're doing what they're doing.
Romm's, in particular, has a lesson for me, I think - by way of George Orwell. (I'm already doing what Beavan's doing - minus the blog and the book and the movie, that is *g*.) Though, really, I still don't feel capable of writing politically. For one thing, there's my slowness, which makes me hopelessly inefficient in this context. Also, I still don't really know enough...
Overall, I'd still much rather be some sort of foot soldier in this cause than a 'pamphleteer', as Orwell puts it.
Unfortunately it feels to me as if I may have to become more than that, because so far, there doesn't seem to be any group/organisation I could join that does what I think is necessary. But what I need to become is probably an organiser, not a political writer - though the two may go hand in hand, eventually.
I still don't know how to do that. For instance, I'd like to do something for 350.org for their Day of Action, but I don't even know how to find enough people to participate in that... or what to do that would really be noticed, in a city as big as mine.
