hmpf: Cole and Ramse from the show not actually called "Splinter" (Default)
so in love with some of the songs from Midnight Oil's early 1980s EPs - which, along with the debut album, are the only of their original releases I'm still missing - that it's a little scary.

I think I will have to hunt down the EPs at last. Which, at least in one of the cases, looks to be expensive. Arrgh.

2010 will be my 20-year Midnight Oil anniversary, btw. Wow. There's no other, comparable musical constant in my life.

Song I've just now become a bit obsessive about:
Blossom & Blood - this is about Hiroshima, if you can believe it. I'm not sure if there was ever another band that could make songs full of atomic angst even half as catchy, and, dare I say, danceable(!)

Song I obsessed about yesterday:
Hercules - another nuclear protest song. I find Rob Hirst's energetic drumming and singing(?) in the background endlessly endearing. Look at him! Such a happy drummer. He looks like he's having the time of his life.

ETA: That these guys fit my emotional needs perfectly when I was thirteen probably says a lot about my youth...

That toe still hurts. The pain's kind of burning, though only fairly mild by now, and not very localised. I had an x-ray done in December that showed nothing wrong. Any ideas what could cause five or so months of intermittent pain of varying severity and not leave any trace visible on an x-ray? I feel kind of silly seeing a doctor about it *again*, so I haven't done so yet, but the pain's mildly annoying, and not knowing what it means is even more annoying.

It's half past three a.m. and I just spent a quarter of an hour jumping around in my room, because apparently it takes uptempo songs about nuclear devastation to get me dancing.

(Well, really, I'd probably also be dancing to this song if it was about something less depressing.)

It's bloody difficult to dance without making significant noise, btw... though I did wear headphones, at least. But I can't dance without moving my feet, can I? And we have wooden floors here. The sound carries...

Also: me dancing? Not quite as bad as this guy. But probably close. :-D There's a reason I never, ever do this in public...
