hmpf: Cole and Ramse from the show not actually called "Splinter" (the doctor)

at how sad I feel about Christopher Eccleston leaving Doctor Who so soon. Yeah, I've known that he was leaving since before I watched the first ep. But that's exactly why I'm so alarmed. I would have expected myself to get used to the idea of the Ninth Doctor having a very limited lifespan, but it seems I can't get used to it. On the contrary, it's getting more painful with each ep, because I like him more with each ep. Arrrgh!

And, no matter how good David Tennant is supposed to be, I still can't help fearing he'll be too much of a pretty boy, at least for me.

Heh, I'm kind of scared of checking out the New Doctor Who, and the Hitchhiker movie because of my dislike of the New Battlestar Galactica. I've got the most interest in the Guide. That I know has the participation of members of Douglas Adams family in it.

Hmm...

Tell me what you liked about the old Doctor Who, and what you would absolutely dislike about a new version, and I'll try and assess the likelihood of your liking/disliking the new Doctor Who for you!

I've been thinking about sending you some CDs - probably when the series is over cause then I could send all of them at once, but if there's a high likelihood of you not liking it, then maybe I shouldn't bother... But, you decide!

Yeah, I was having this discussion the other day - you cn only pull off camp if you have a strong personality to go with it (aka Jon Pertwee) and alas David Tennant does not :(

Not just camp...

that scene in Dalek was far from camp. Yeah, the Daleks are camp personified, in a way, but still, that was actually strong drama to me - about as far away from camp as you can get.

Of course, what you say about a strong personality applies there, too - you need someone like Christopher Eccleston to pull off a scene like that and make it *work* as drama. I mean, he was shouting at an oversized pepperpot! It's hard to play that in a way that the audience can take seriously... but he did.
