I'm speechless!

Starting on the first of March. Comic/cartoon museum. In my hometown. Badly paid, and only for a year, maximum two years, but hey. THEY TOOK ME DESPITE THE DISASTROUS INTERVIEW!!!!!!

Nope. And believe me, the interview was horrible. I think it's likely, however, that - even with the dismal image I presented - I was still the person with the most knowledge in the areas they required; it was some pretty specific stuff that, I believe, is not all that widely known in our generation. I also think it's possible that I was the second choice, and the first choice declined the offer.

OMG! EEEE! And not just a job, a job at a really cool place! I hope you have an awesome time. Even if it's only for a year to two, it goes on your CV, it gets you expereince, it keeps the wolves from the door financially and it means you can say that you work for a COMICS MUSEUM which frankly is one of the cooler jobs I've ever heard of!

Getting the call today was so weird! I was all, "here it comes, they're gonna tell me someone else got the job", and then the guy says "I'm calling to tell you that you can start on the first of March." o.O I almost did a Doctor Who impersonation ("What? What?! WHAT?!?"); I'm afraid I actually did say something like "Whu... but that interview was a disaster..." - Eloquent, that's me. *g*)

It's actually more of a political cartoon museum.

Caricature and so on. But they do some stuff on comics, occasionally. It's a very young museum, actually - only four years old. So there's probably a lot of room for development in all kinds of directions.

Hey, was das verschobene Treffen angeht - da ich im März anfange zu arbeiten und da zumindest gelegentlich Wochenendarbeit angesagt sein könnte, kann ich im Moment noch nicht mit absoluter Sicherheit zusagen, aber im Moment passen mir noch beide vorgeschlagenen Termine.

Du, das ist doch ganz klar und völlig ok, dass auch DU Termine und Verpflichtungen hast!!! Nicht nur der Arbeit wegen. Nicht immer nur die anderen. ;)

Wir halten das einfach mal so fest und Du meldest Dich noch mal. Da muss ja nix großartiges vorbereitet werden, das geht also auch einigermaßen kurzfristig. :)

Honestly? I'm tending to the view that the competition must have been even weaker. Or, possibly, that I was actually the second choice or so, and their first choice candidate decided they didn't want the job after all. It's only been my second interview, ever, granted - but the previous one was actually quite good. This one, though, wasn't. I think I can tell the difference. For starters, in this interview I 1.) couldn't sum up my M.A. thesis, 2.) could think of only one French comic artist (although I usually know bunches), 3.) couldn't think of currently active German humorists (although I usually know at least some), 4.) fidgeted all.the.bloody.time, 5.) kept forgetting the past tense of common German verbs, 6.) couldn't name several thematically related museums (although I actually do know them), 7.) had to admit I've never actually been to any even organised by the museum, although it's in my home town, 8.) forgot to mention several pretty crucial things I've done, like the internship with the GP online department, when they asked me about my computer and communications experience... the list goes on. Really, they caught me completely on the wrong foot throughout.
