Dude! What's this about facebook???

Has LJ been assimilated?

Okay... I guess that means I have to migrate my journal to Dreamwidth now. *sigh* One more task I don't really have the time for.

Arrrgh.

Yes, pretty much; and even if privacy concerns were not your bag, the bigger issue is FB's TOS and tyrannical policing of content. I can't wait until some happy-go-slashy fan cross-posts x-rated stories or images to both her LJ and FB and gets both her accounts shut down/deleted because of TOS infringements via FB.

I think most of fandom does not really appreciate the implications of this move by LJ, they are just "well I don't use FB so it doesn't matter to me." It will when their favorite comm gets shut down because of it.

I'm over on dw: http://kimboosan.dreamwidth.org/
I still check my flist here, but I do not post here any more except for the rare public-level cross post.

There's a great writeup here: http://cleolinda.livejournal.com/902653.html
and
http://somnolentblue.dreamwidth.org/110502.html

but the bottom line is: come over to DW; you're less likely to accidentally cross-post something (especially if you hang out a lot in other people's journals/communities.)

Eh, I'm not too stressed about it. Not because I think it's good or anything but because I don't HAVE a facebook, so I can't exactly accidentally crosspost something and if someone crossposts a public post of mine, well, it's the freaking internet. People can do that ANYWAY just not with such handy buttons. The one issue I do hope they sort out is it looks like there might be an issue with flock-breaking if the person crossposting already has access to flocked content, but I'm a bit hazy on that and my flist is maniacally small and, well, AGAIN, people can flock break if they choose to already, it just requires copy-pasting instead of a helpful button.

Basically it sucks but I don't think it's the end of the world mainly cus good luck finding anywhere perfect on the internets.

If you want to go to DW though, I'm pretty sure there's an automatic way to just port your entire LJ over there so it shouldn't be too time consuming. And then you can just automatically cross-post to LJ too if you want to.

As I understand it though, Facebook hasn't actually bought LJ? They're just paying them money to do this crossposting crap.

I'm grumpy about the possibility to crosspost even comments made to a locked entry. I keep my facebook and fannish blogs separate and do not fancy anyone mixing up the streams. But then, I've been slowly driting over to Dreamwidth anyway over the last year - I enjoy giving DW money much more than to LJ. I crosspost, but unless LJ fixes the 'post comments of a locked entry to FB' thing, I'm seriously considering disabling commenting on LJ.
I get the urge to mesh various platforms for LJ - it seems all the rage now -, but so many people are using different sites for different purposes, so... I hope this fashion too will pass, hopefully with very few casualties:S
Um, tl;dr ... anyway, if you perhaps need a Dreamwidth invite code, I have a bunch?

I moved to dreamwidth... (see my latest post)
added you to my circle there, btw

I'm over on DW *tempts you* but my username's different (it's muladhara). I didn't know you (or didn't remember) if you were namesitting over there or not (in which case I would've added you sooner, heh).

Sorry if that doesn't make a lot of sense; I am very tired.
