SAVE FARSCAPE -- I need your help!
Hi everyone who reads this journal - I'm desparate, and I need your help. Farscape, the show around which my emotional life has been revolving for the last one and a half years, has been cancelled. Only those of you who've had their favourite show cancelled before can understand what that means. At the moment, it means I'm a nervous wreck sitting at my computer taking turns crying and writing mails. I'm actually too distraught to write a coherent entrz here, but I need you help, so I'll just post the appeal I just mailed to everybody here:
Hi everybody,
some of you probably already know this, and some of you probably don't care all that much, but most of you - not all - are to some degree fannish people and may understand the desperation of a fan whose show has been cancelled.
The day before yesterday Farscape, which was regarded by many the best scifi show currently on the air, has been cancelled. Yes, that´s right, a show that has won awards left right and center, that the critics have on more than one occasion raved about and that has a fast growing fandom even in countries where it is not currently on the air, has been cancelled. Not that it´s been the first time that a great show has been cancelled prematurely... this is the kind of thing that reminds me of all the things that are wrong with 'the system'... ;-) (grinning under tears here)
So, why this mail? Because it´s only been a few dozen hours since the cancellation and Rock and co. are imploring us to write letters, and, well, I figured I´d just send this appeal who might even in the remotest way be interested in Farscape...
So. Some of you are close friends of mine; some of you are fans (maybe not as fanatical as I, but still fans) of the show, and some of you are just general fannish people who may feel some solidarity with this newly-deprived fan. Now, *if* you could find the time to write an e-mail or - better yet - a letter to one or all of the addresses below, we *might* have a chance. I'm not saying there's a big chance, but for us to have *any* kind of chance, we need *lots* of letters. And faxes. And e-mails. So please do me the favour and devote a tiny little bit of your time to tell the Scifi-Channel that Farscape is a frelling great show whose story arc deserves to be finished instead of left hanging after season four. If you can write to both SciFi and EM-TV (who own Henson), that would of course be best, but if you don't want to devote that much time, just write to the SciFi-Channel. Please, if you can find the time, write a letter and not just an e-mail, because letters - handwritten, if possible - count the most. It won't take much of your time, but it might just give one piece of quality TV the chance it deserves.
Do I have to kneel down and beg? ;-)
Thanks.
Hmpf - distraught in Frankfurt
PS: If you don't want to write a letter, even a postcard might do.

Uhm …
No :-)
I sent mails, signed the petitions, and even wrote a few letters. Though, knowing our post, they'll never arrive in time ...
