So, today I found out my hip joint is fucked.

Not much to be done about it except avoid certain types of strain, it seems. This means I can never go hiking in hilly or mountainous terrain again (or not without pain, anyway). And actually I shouldn't walk too much in general. Which is a bit sad, because I like walking.
