Oh, c'mon.

Is Farscape really *that* much less popular than Firefly?

(Firefly: 70.7% - 3681 votes; Farscape: 9.8% - 191 votes)

This makes me a little bit sad.

It's hard to believe, isn't it? I've never understood the huge Firefly-mania. It was good, but not all that.

It ain't fair. I like Firefly, but... FARSCAPE!!!!!

Yeah, I know. I mean...

I *like* Firefly, and it's pretty high up in my top ten favourite sf shows of all time - but it hadn't developed enough for me to really get very invested in it.

(And can I admit, shamefacedly, to a leeetle bit of envy at seeing the Firefly campaign becoming pretty much the definitive fan campaign in the public consciousness? These days it seems as if hardly anyone really remembers Farscape and the Save Farscape campaign that, in its day, made CNN a couple of times.)

I know. I know!

Firefly was well-made TV. But Farscape... Farscape was the show that punched me in the gut, tore out my heart, took me to nightmare places, then drowned me in honey. Repeatedly. Sometimes within a single episode.

Yes, because Firefly was part of huge Jossverse, wich was mainstream Hollywood, network television, thus had many more viewers than Farscape, the dark horse from down under, on a small, niche cable channel. I'd been in other fan campaigns before FS, and was in from the beginning with the Farscape campaign, and then there were alliances between the FS and FF campaigns. And they got a movie and we got a mini. And a movie is a lot bigger than a mini, in Hollywood.

But our show is bigger on the inside.

I can't believe that. Honestly. I mean, to repeat what's already been said here, yes, I like Firefly, but I love Farscape like whoa. I mean, I've had a year without my FF DVDs, and only missed them a couple of times. If someone took my FS DVDs away for that long, there would be serious harm caused to that person. (No. Really).

ETA: in the creepy that it sometimes is, Winamp just started playing me "With Or Without You"...
